Principal's Message

A Warm Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year!

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to the upcoming 2023-2024 school year! Our Pasco High School staff is brimming with excitement as we prepare to embark on this educational journey alongside our incredible students and their families.

A New Vision for Pasco High

Last school year, Pasco High engaged students, parents, staff, and community members in thoughtful discussions to define a shared vision for every graduate from PHS. We are thrilled to introduce our new vision statement: "All PHS graduates will be employable, financially literate, exceptional communicators, problem solvers, and critical thinkers equipped with the skills to thrive in a diverse, ever-changing global community." This vision will be reinforced through the AVID Schoolwide framework, which empowers our staff and students with strategies and essential skills for college and career readiness. AVID Schoolwide fosters critical thinking, collaboration, reading, writing, and relationship-building.

We are excited to embark on our second year of AVID Schoolwide Implementation at PHS, further enhancing the educational experience for our students.

Learning and Safety

This school year, we are introducing the MINGA digital school identification system to prioritize learning and safety at Pasco High. Additionally, we are launching our Earned Open Campus Lunch Program, granting students the privilege to leave campus during lunchtime based on their accomplishments. Students who earn this privilege will need to present their MINGA Digital ID to staff when leaving campus. Furthermore, to enhance safety measures, all students will be required to present their Digital ID for campus entry. Further details about the new Earned Open Campus Lunch Program and safety protocols will be shared with students and families.

Throughout the year, Pasco High will maintain robust communication with families through channels such as the weekly Bulldog Bulletin (email, text message, PSD App), social media (Facebook/Instagram/Twitter), phone calls, and mail. As your building principal, my foremost goal is to uphold our new vision statement and mission statement. Effective communication will fortify our partnership and ensure that we continue to fulfill our mission of "All Belong, All Learn, All In" for every student.

Warm regards,

Veronica Mechado
