Theatre Arts
At Pasco High School, our Drama Program is all about unleashing creativity and exploring the exciting world of performing arts. Whether you're a seasoned actor or just curious about the stage, our program offers a wide range of opportunities for students to dive into the world of drama.
What We Offer
Throughout the year, our drama program presents a variety of shows and performances, including a fall show, a March show, and spring student-directed one-act plays. We even host workshops led by guest artists, covering everything from acting techniques to tech theatre.
But it's not just about acting. Our program encourages students to explore various technical roles like stage management, directing, set design, lighting, sound, costume creation, and more. We believe that there's a place for everyone in the world of theater, whether you're drawn to the spotlight or prefer working behind the scenes.
Community Engagement
Our students not only perform for their fellow Pasco High School peers but also take their talents out into the community and across the state. It's an opportunity for them to share their passion and witness the incredible work of other high schools in the performing arts. Our participation in events like the one-act CBC play festival has been a fantastic platform for this type of community engagement.
Additionally, students can earn membership in the Thespian Society, an international theatrical honors society, showcasing their dedication and excellence in the dramatic arts.
Joining the Drama Program
Joining our drama program is easy—all you need is interest and a bold heart. Everyone is welcome to audition for our shows or get involved as a "techie" to learn the technical aspects of theater production. Our program is not just about creating incredible performances; it's also about fostering teamwork, discipline, and, most importantly, having a great time.
Exploring Acting Careers
Acting is a career path that offers immense personal rewards. It's an opportunity to do what you love and, for many, can provide a comfortable living. While it's true that the industry can be competitive and challenging, the fulfillment it offers can be incomparable.
Considering Drama School
If you're serious about pursuing a career in acting, training at a recognized drama school can be a game-changer. These institutions provide you with essential skills, discipline, and the chance to be noticed by agents, casting directors, and theaters, increasing your chances of landing that crucial first job.
Career Opportunities for Drama Majors
Drama majors have a world of possibilities ahead of them. Some venture into fields like business or law, applying their critical thinking and communication skills. Others stay within the realm of theater, pursuing careers as actors, designers, directors, managers of theaters and arts organizations, critics, or educators. The path you choose may require further study, but the opportunities are boundless.
So, whether you're drawn to the stage or intrigued by what goes on behind the curtain, the Pasco High School Drama Program welcomes you to explore the exciting world of the performing arts. Join us, and let your creativity shine!
